Education

Mrs. Simmons graduated high school from T. R. Miller High School in Brewton, AL and followed her dream to become a teacher. She attended the prestigious Judson College in Marion, AL where she received her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. She was blessed to do her internship in Alexander City at Stephens Elementary School and received a job with the Alexander City School System in 2005. She received her Master’s Degree in Elementary Education from Troy University, Montgomery in 2007. 



Experience

Mrs. Simmons taught fourth grade from 2005-May 2016 at Nathaniel H. Stephens Elementary School. She has taught Reading, Language Arts, Spelling, and Writing. In 2016, she joined the William L. Radney Elementary School family as the Instructional Coach for the school. 

 As an Instructional Coach, Mrs. Simmons helps teachers become more effective in the classroom so that students improve in their academic performance. She helps the teachers learn how to use what are called “evidence-based” practices. She helps the teacherse utilize practical teaching strategies to engage students and to maximize good academic outcomes.

Mrs. Simmons is actively involved at Radney School. She assists with the Veterans Day and Black History Month programs. She is the Sponsor for the Radney National Junior Beta Club and Math Competition Club. She was the choreographer and choral director for Radney's drama club play called Suessical in 2017. 



Bio

Mrs. Simmons received the award of being Nathaniel H. Stephens Elementary School teacher of the year for the 2013-2014 school years. In 2015, she was chosen as one of the top 5 Elementary finalist for the Alabama Teacher Hall of Fame housed at Jacksonville State University. Mrs. Simmons has also received the Perfect Attendance award for the Alexander City School System for the 2011-2012, 2012-2013, and 2014-2015 school years. She is a proud mother, wife, and community director of “The Studio” Arts and Education facility. Her passion is to minister in dance, act, operate programs, tutor and mentor children. Her favorite verse is Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.”.
